IHSA To Hold XC Sectionals Saturday

With no state meet, the cross country season for high school will end with sectionals held on Saturday.

Olney Central College is the site of the 2a Sectional that will feature Salem’s Ivy Donoho after she was the final qualifier at the Highland Regional last Saturday.  Joining Donoho on the girls’ side will be Mt Vernon’s Britney Brown.

Running individually on the boys side are Trey Mygatt and Kevin Perkins of Mt Vernon.

Competing as teams on the boys side are Civic Memorial, Carbondale, Champaign Central, Chatham Glenwood, Highland, Lincoln, Mahomet, Marion, Mascoutah, Mattoon, Olney, Rochester,  Springfield, Triad and Urbana.  On the girls side are Carbondale, Charleston, Chatham, Highland, Lincoln, Mahomet, Mascoutah, Mattoon, Mt Zion, Rochester, Springfield, Taylorville, Triad and Waterloo.

In the 1a Belleville Althoff Sectional, teams on the boys side include Anna Jonesboro, Althoff, Christ Our Rock, Mater Dei, DuQuoin, Freeburg, Hamilton County, Pinckneyville, Steeleville, Wesclin, Vienna and West Frankfort.  Competing on the girls side are Anna, Althoff, Central, Carterville, DuQuoin, Freeburg, Hamilton County, Murphysboro, Nashville, Pinckneyville, Red Bud and West Frankfort.

On the boys side individually running will be Will Detmer of Breese Central,  Grant Schleifer of Okawville.  On the girls side is Christ Our Rock’s Sarah McKowen, Cindy Snyder from Okawville.

Competing in the 3a Normal Sectional on the boy’s side will be Bradley, Edwardsville, Lockport, Minooka, Lincoln Way Central & West, O’Fallon, Pekin, Plainfield North & South, Andrew and Yorkville.  On the girls side its Bolingbrook, Edwardsville, Flossmoor, Lincoln Way East, Lockport, Minooka, Lincoln Way Central & West, Normal, O’Fallon, Pekin, Plainfield North, Quincy, Andrew and Yorkville.
