Marion County records five new COVID-19 deaths; outbreak continues at Odin Health Care Center

The Marion County Health Department is reporting five additional COVID-19 related deaths.  They include two males in their 70s, a male in his 80s, and two females in their 80s.

Three of the deaths occurred at the Odin Health Care Center which has been the scene of an outbreak that has now claimed seven lives.  Public Health Officials say a total of 48 residents of the home have tested positive for COVID-19 along with a number of staff members.   The other two deaths were not associated with a long term care facility.  There have now been a total of 24 COVID-19 related deaths in Marion County.

The health department is also reporting 19 new positive cases on Wednesday.  Four are long-term care residents and one is school age but the student was not at school during their infectious period.  Nine of the cases are listed as community spread and ten are believed to be the result of household or close contacts.   The 19 ranged in age from a girl under ten years of age, eight in their 30s, to a female in her 90s.   All are on isolation.

There are now 237 active cases in Marion County, including 18 who are hospitalized and three who are on ventilators.   Five were released from isolation on Wednesday with a total of 774 now listed as recovered.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reports one additional COVID-19 death in Clinton County, a female in her 90s.  The department is also reporting 19 new positive cases.  241 are currently on home isolation and 12 are hospitalized.

The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting their 43rd COVID-19 related death, a male in his 70s.  There are 16 new cases ranging from two children under 13 to a male in his 80s.  There are 80 active cases currently in isolation.

The Clay County Health Department is reporting five new cases including one teen to a male in his 50s.  The positive cases include a Flora High School Student and a North Clay School District staff members.  The health department reports no close contacts were identified at either school.

The Wayne County Health Department is reporting 13 new positive cases ranging in age from a female in her 20s to three in their 90s.  106 are currently isolating and one is hospitalized.

The Fayette County Health Department is reporting nine new confirmed cases.  There are now 69 confirmed cases.
