Marion County records another COVID-19 related death

The Marion County Health Department has recorded another COVID-19 related death.   The female in her 70s was NOT a long term care facility resident.   The death is the 25th in the county.  The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting the death of a man and woman in their 80s in Wayne County, bringing their total number of deaths to 19.

The Marion County Health Department also reported 30 new cases of the coronavirus on Friday.   They include 13 community spread and 17 who were household or close contacts to confirmed cases.  Six of the cases were students from various schools.  The health department is still doing contact tracing on four students.  One student was not at school during their infectious period and one student is a full remote student.

The new positive cases range from a boy under two, a girl under five, a boy and girl under 13, four teens up to a male in his 80s, and a female in her 90s.  All are in isolation.

There are now 289 active cases, including 16 in the hospital of which four are on ventilators.  The rest are in home isolation.  Six residents of long term care facilities were released from isolation and listed as recovered on Friday, bringing the total number recovered to 789.

The Clinton County Health Department is reporting 31 new positive cases.  There are now 262 on home isolation and 10 who are hospitalized.

The Jefferson County Health Department has reported 20 new positive cases.  They range in age from a teen to a male in his 80s.  101 remain active and are in isolation.

The Washington County Health Department is reporting 20 new COVID-19 cases including three males under one to a female in her 80s.  There are currently no county residents hospitalized.

The Fayette County Health Department is reporting seven new cases and 85 active cases.

The Clay County Health Department reported nine new cases late Thursday night.  Flora Unit 35 Schools reported two high school students and one elementary student were positive.  North Clay Unit 25 reported another positive case among their staff.  An investigation into those cases is underway.

Wayne County is reporting six new cases.  95 are now in isolation and three are hospitalized.
