Mary Miller selected to replace John Shimkus in Congress

The Republican candidate for 15th District Congressman has won the race to replace the retiring John Shimkus.

Mary Miller easily outdistanced Democrat Erika Weaver by a 73 to 27 percent vote plurality.

In a statement when declaring victory said as the District’s congresswoman she would stand for God-given constitutional rights, the rule of law and a culture of freedom.  She promised to fight for economic opportunities, including bringing manufacturing jobs home from overseas.  Miller says she will always defend our religious liberties, Second Amendment rights, and stand up for the right to life and families across Southern and Central Illinois.

She thanked everyone who has helped in their effort and especially the voters who entrusted her to fight for them and their values in Washington.

Two other incumbent Congressmen easily won re-election.   Mike Bost beat Democratic Challenger Raymond Lenzi 61 to 39 percent.  Rodney Davis outdistanced Betsy Dirksen Londrigan in a hotly contested race in the  13th Congressional District.  Davis garnered 55 percent of the vote and Londrigan 45 -percent.

Democrat Joe Biden easily won the entire state of Illinois despite doing poorly in South Central Illinois.  Biden led President Donald Trump 55 to 43 percent statewide.

U.S. Senator Dick Durbin also won re-election easily across the state.  He finished with 52 percent of the vote to Republican challenger Mark Curran’s 41 percent.
