Marion County Health Department reporting four new COVID-19 deaths; 96 new positive cases

The Marion County Health Department reported four more deaths of county residents who were all positive for COVID-19.

Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow says they were a female in her 60s, a female in her 70s, and two males in their 80s.  Two of the deaths were in long term care residents.  The deaths bring to 45 the number of COVID-19 related deaths in Marion County since the pandemic began.

The health department also reported 96 new COVID-19 cases over the weekend and on Monday.   Nine of the positives were in long-term care residents and six were students where contact tracing is being done.  51 of the cases are considered community spread and 45 are household or close contacts.

There are now 346 active cases, including 23 in the hospital.  Two of those hospitalized are on ventilators.   The health department reported 146 released from isolation over the three day period, bringing the total recovered to 1,426 cases.

The Clinton County Health Department reported 109 new positive cases.   There are now 669 on home isolation and eight who are hospitalized.

The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting 76 new positive cases over the past three days.   There are now 255 active cases in isolation.

The Washington County Health Department has 40 new cases over the weekend and Monday.  There are now 82 active cases and five hospitalized.

The Clay County Health Department is reporting 50 new cases Saturday and Sunday as well as a COVID-19 related death of a male in his 70s reported over the weekend by the Illinois Department of Public Health.

The Wayne County Health Department is reporting five lab-confirmed and two probable cases of COVID-19 on Monday.  126 are currently on isolation after testing positive.
