Positive cases of staff with COVID-19 at Murray Center continues to climb

The Director of the Murray Developmental Center says the number of employees testing positive for COVID-19 continues to rise.

Lori Demijan says as of Wednesday morning, 57 staff have tested positive in the second outbreak of COVID-19 at the center.   She reports all but a few who tested positive early on work at Fir Cottage where the outbreak has been centered.   A total of  36 residents of Fir Cottage have also tested positive, but that number remains fairly stable since the end of last week.  Demijan says no residents of any other cottage have tested positive.

So far, the cases have been mild.  None of the residents are hospitalized and many are not showing any symptoms at all.   They are being housed together in one unit of Fir Cottage as well as some in Apple Cottage which has been set aside for positive COVID-19 cases.

Demijan says there will be a Thanksgiving Dinner for residents, but it will be different.   All residents will have to eat in their rooms as there is no communal dining taking place at the present time.   Murray Center is also still allowing no visitors, but some parents have sent gifts ahead of time to be distributed on Thanksgiving Day.
