Dean was a proud veteran of the Navy from World War II, and served on the Housing Authority Board, the Jefferson County Board and served several years as an Elk Prairie clerk and trustee for Elk Prairie Township. His greatest passion in life was his farm. He was a lifelong farmer and assisted his son in the farming operation up until his late 80’s but still climbed in the semi during harvest this past fall and road to the elevator. He still called his son nightly during planting and harvest to check on the days farming progress. He dearly loved his wife and children but the greatest joy that ever entered his life was his grandson, Jacob, whom he nicknamed “Bub”! Pa and Bub spent countless hours together and Bub was always “Pa’s” main topic during any conversation. He was a very kind, caring and giving husband, Dad, Pa, father-in law, friend and neighbor and had an avid love for dogs and cats. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
