Marion County Health Department reports 25 new COVID-19 cases; no deaths

The Marion County Health Department is reporting 25 new cases of COVID-19, but no additional deaths on Thursday.

The State Department of Public Health is reporting 6,652 new cases statewide and 88 additional deaths.  A male in his 70s in Jefferson County and a female in her 70s and male in his 90s in Effingham County are on the list of fatalities.

Of the 25 new Marion County cases, none are long term care residents and three are students.  One is homeschooled, one was not in class during their infectious period and contact tracing is being completed on the third.   The department is listing 14 as community spread and 11 as household or close contacts.

There are now 286 active cases.  19 of those are in the hospital and four of those are on ventilators.   No one was released from isolation on Thursday.  A total of 3,240 are listed as recovered.

Jefferson County is reporting 16 new cases, with 205 remaining on isolation.

The Fayette County Health Department is reporting five new cases.

The Clay County Health Department is reporting eight new cases on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Wayne County Health Department is reporting eight new cases on Thursday.

The statewide positivity rate for the past seven days is 6.8-percent.   The Southern Illinois Region positivity rate has dipped to 7.8-percent.   Marion County’s seven-day positivity rate is down to 4.9-percent.   The Metro-East Region positivity has dropped to 10.3-percent, but both ICU and Med-Surg beds remain under the 20 percent availability threshold sought by the state.   The East Central Illinois Region has a positivity rate of 8.3-percent.
