COVID-19 vaccinations begin at Murray Center

By News Jan 16, 2021 | 12:41 PM

The Moderna vaccine for COVID-19 has arrived at the Murray Developmental Center.

Administrator Lori Demijan says virtually all the resident’s guardians and parents have approved receiving the poke.   The vaccine is also being given to staff members who agree to take it.

Demijan says 400 doses were delivered on Thursday and more are available if needed.

She notes after going two weeks without a positive case among the residents, one was recorded on Wednesday night.  Three staff are currently COVID positive and on quarantine.

Demijan is hopeful the vaccinations will help the center be able to reopen to parents and guardians who are currently not allowed visits due to COVID-19 restrictions.    The center has had two large breakouts of COVID-19 among both staff and residents.

Murray Center currently has 242 residents.
