A single-story condemned home at 1203 South Cherry burned in a Sunday morning fire.

Centralia City firefighters say the home was fully engulfed in flames when spotted by a Wamac patrolman at 6:55 Sunday morning.

There was no one around the home when firefighters arrived.   The cause of the fire remains under investigation.   Firemen say it appears utilities were still connected to the home.

The property is reportedly owned by William Ratterman.  It had a listed value in Marion County property records of $5,000.

A second shift of firemen was called in to help handle the blaze.  It was discovered while firemen were still on the scene of a fire that destroyed a vacant apartment house that burned at 130 Condit in an early Sunday morning fire.

Firefighters say there is nothing at this point to tie the two fires together.
