By News Jan 19, 2021 | 1:19 PM

The new tornado warning siren in Central City is now in operation.

The siren cleared its final test Tuesday morning when it was automatically sounded by remote control by the Marion County Emergency Services and Disaster Agency.

The siren is located at Central City Village Hall.   The old siren, which was also outside the village hall, has now been removed.

Central City received an $18,000 grant to cover three-fourths of the cost of the new siren from the USDA.
