2021 01/22 – David E. Eggers

David E. Eggers, 77, of Metropolis, formerly of Centralia, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021 at his home. Mr. Eggers served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam from1964-1968. During his time in the Air Force he was active with the K-9 Police Unit. David worked as a loyal employee of the postal service until his retirement. His passion was riding his Harley. The destination was never as important as the journey. David rarely lacked a project to work on and was known to be able to fix anything. He was a good and kind man and will be greatly missed by friends and family.

Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia is privileged to be assisting the family of David Eggers with arrangements. A private graveside service was held. Survivors include his family, aunt, Dottie McCormick, cousins Jim Eggers and wife Martha, Bill Ogden, Allan Eggers; as well as several other cousins. Also left to mourn his passing are his companion, Suzanne Sanders, and many valued friends.

He was born on August 1, 1943 the son of Ernie and Lorene (Patterson) Eggers in Centralia. David was preceded in death by both his parents, Ernie and Lorene Eggers; and brother, Dwight Eggers.
