Shelba Jean Rhodes, 78, of Texico, Illinois, passed away at 12:50 pm January 19, 2021 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon. Mrs. Rhodes was an instructor at Apollo School of Cosmetology and she ran a beauty shop out of her home for several years. She was a member of First Church of Christ in Mount Vernon and VFW Aux. Shelba loved her family especially her grandchildren and she will be dearly missed.

In addition to her loving husband of thirty-eight years, Shelba is survived by her daughter, Jean Ann Rush and husband, Wink of Collierville, Tennessee; sons, Bill Salter and wife, Vicki of Clarksville, Tennessee, Jim Salter and wife, Jenny of Brooklyn, Michigan; step children, Renae Shircliff of Hillsdale, Michigan, Michelle Gose and husband, William of Sault St. Marie, Michigan; fifteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Donna McGuire and husband, Jim of Mount Vernon, Illinois.
She was born September 7, 1942 in Illinois to the late Don and Thelma (Hart) Gulley. Shelba married Thomas Rhodes on December 18, 1982 in Rollin, Michigan. In addition to her parents, Shelba was preceded in death her infant sister, Sheila Rae Gulley.
