South Central Grade School returns from first full remote learning week

The South Central Grade School is back in regular session after a week of full remote learning January 7th through the 15th due to a large number of staff on quarantine.

Principal Sara Rose says this all happened rather quickly and it wasn’t an easy decision.

“I have to compliment our staff, families and students for what they were able to pull together and complete during this time.  We actually had supply pickups for kids and 100% of our parents picked those up.”

Rose says breakfasts and lunches were also provided to all families who requested them. She reported teachers worked diligently with students via phone and Google Meets to discuss pre-recorded lessons with the students. Rose is very happy they are back in session, but says it was a very good learning
experience and now they know they can do the full remote.

South Central Middle School Principal Greg Grinestaff reported that grades are looking better at his school thanks to the extra work of teachers to provide after school help and working with students to get in missing assignments. He said 16 Middle School students remain on full remote for the 2nd semester and six students are currently in quarantine.
