Metro East Region advances to Tier 2 Mitigations

By News Jan 22, 2021 | 1:12 PM

The Metro East Region has moved out of Tier 3 to the less restrictive Tier 2 mitigations.

While Tier 2 doesn’t yet allow indoor seating for bars and restaurants, it does allow fitness classes, the return of lower-risk youth and recreational sports, and the reopening of cultural institutions such as museums at 25-percent capacity.   Gaming and casinos can also reopen in Tier 2.

The Metro East Region was the last region to begin to see a relaxation of mitigation as positivity rates and hospitalizations remained higher than other parts of the state.

The Southern Illinois Region and the East Central Illinois Region are now in Phase Four which allows bars and restaurants to be open under guidelines,  meetings and social events and gatherings for 25 or fewer guests, and resumption of all outdoor activities.
