Rural Salem man faces Class X drug charge following traffic stop

A 56-year-old Salem man was formally charged with a Class X drug charge in the aftermath of a Thursday night traffic stop by Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies at West Main and Hotze Road in Salem.

Mark Hills of Nation Road was formally charged in Marion County Court on Friday with a Class X charge of unlawful possession with intent to deliver 15 to 100 grams of methamphetamine and A Class 1 felony of possession of the same amount of meth.

Bond was set at $50,000 and the public defender appointed to represent Hills.

A passenger in the car was also charged.  42-year-old Crystal McIntosh of Valley Forge Road in Mt. Vernon was charged with possession of under five grams of methamphetamine.   She was released on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond and had the public defender appointed to represent her.
