The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting 5,152 new cases of the coronavirus and 97 additional deaths on Saturday.
The deaths include ten in St. Clair County and three in Madison County in the Metro-East along with the death of a female in her 80s in Effingham County, a female over 100 in Massac County, a male in his 70s in Perry County, a female in her 90s in Wabash County, a female in her 80s from White County and a female in her 70s in Williamson County.
The statewide positivity rate continues to come down. It is now at 4.9-percent for the past seven days. The Southern Illinois Region positivity rate is at 5.2-percent. Marion County’s positivity rate increase a half-percent to 3.9-percent. The Metro-East Region remains at 8.4-percent for the third day in a row. The East Central Illinois Region is at 5.6-percent positivity.
