Two Centralia men were formally charged with felony drug offenses in Marion County Court on Friday following an investigation by Salem Police.

46-year-old Darrell Warren of East 6th Street was charged with unlawful possession with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of methamphetamine as well as possession of a controlled substance.   Bond was set at $7,500 and the public defender appointed to represent him.

45-year-old Brian Cavins of Calumet Street was released on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond after being charged with possession of under five grams of methamphetamine and possession of a hypodermic syringe.

Salem Police say Warren was the owner of the car that had originally been reported as a suspicious vehicle in the Super Eight parking lot.   Cavins was one of two outside the vehicle when police arrived.  The second person, 31-year-old Jerrad Simpson of North Pearl in Salem, was only arrested on an outstanding felony failure to appear warrants.    Warren was arrested later when returning to the parking lot and asking police what was going on.

A fourth person, 32-year-old Lloyd Finley II of Spruce Street in Salem, was released from the Marion County Jail without being charged.

Salem Police say drugs were in plain view in the car upon their arrival and a search was completed after Canine Freddie alerted on the vehicle.   More drugs were allegedly found after a search warrant was executed on a room at the Super Eight where Warren had been staying.    Motel officials had told police there was a high amount of foot traffic to the room.
