Centralia City Council approves new Liquor License

The Centralia City Council has approved its eighth Class E liquor license for a restaurant in the Jolliff Bridge Road strip mall.

City Manager Lowell Crow says the request is being made by Yamatos, which is not interested in gaming.

“They have been in operation 6 months and he wants to add liquor, beer and wine to his services.  He had mentioned he was going to serve Saki, as well as Japanese and Korean beer.”

The city council, which in the past has questioned adding more liquor licenses, unanimously approved Yamatos request.

The council approved moving forward with seeking the demolition of homes at 402 West Rexford, 701 and 703 Gragg, 811 North Cherry and 140 North Beech.

Four parcels of real estate declared surplus by the city will once again be advertised for sale by sealed bid. Crow says the minimum bid on 416 North Maple, 426 South Pine, 815 Arbor Lane and 1834 Duck Lane have all been lowered after not receiving a bid during a prior attempt to sell the property.

The council has decided to remain on the Zoom meeting platform for another month. City Councilman David Sauer felt they would be doing a disservice to citizens if they went back into in person meetings now due to potential issues with keeping everyone six feet apart and wearing masks. The issue will be reviewed again at the end of February.

The council recognized Fire Lieutenant Garrick Parson for 20 years of serve and telecommunicator Codie Melton and police officer Andrew Harvard for five years of service.
