Sandoval Fire Department names Firefighter and EMT of the Year

The Sandoval Fire Protection District has named Matt Horn as Firefighter of the Year and Gail Gambill the Tom Nicolay EMT of the Year.

The announcement came at the department’s annual awards dinner.

Department members with the most volunteer on-scene responses were also recognized. They included Chief Chad Parson with 141, Horn with 118, Gambill with 113, Scott Towler with 108, and Trey Gambill with 98.

The Sandoval Fire Department had another busy year with 528 total calls. They included eight structure fires, 17 mutual aid fires, 28 motor vehicle accidents, 20 false alarms, and 13 gas odors. On the ambulance side, there were 299 emergency ambulance responses, 72 mutual aid ambulance responses, and 35 non-emergency ambulance responses.
