IDPH reports Marion County COVID-19 related death

The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting the death of a Marion County man in his 70s from COVID-19 related symptoms.    The death is one of 27 being reported statewide on Tuesday and is the 112th death in the pandemic in Marion County.

The Marion County Health Department was completing a vaccination clinic on Tuesday at the First Christian Church and will not have further details on the death until Wednesday’s COVID-19 update.  An additional 250 were scheduled to get their first shot at Tuesday’s clinic.

There were 1,665 new cases of coronavirus reported around the state.   The statewide positivity rate for the past seven days is 2.8-percent.   Marion County’s seven-day positivity rate has risen to 1-percent.

An additional 43,282 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were given on Monday, bringing the total number of vaccines up to 2,254,982.   In Marion County, 5,308 doses have now been administered with 1,399 being fully vaccinated for 3.72-percent of the population.

The Clinton County Health Department is reporting three new positive cases on Tuesday.  There are currently 43 on home isolation and five are hospitalized.

Jefferson County has seven new cases, with 48 currently in isolation.

The Fayette County Health Department and Clay County Health Department are both reporting three new cases on Tuesday.
