Marion County Health Department reports 10 new COVID-19 cases

The Marion County Health Department is reporting ten new COVID-19 cases on Thursday and Friday and no new deaths.    There were 2,441 new confirmed and probable cases statewide, including 55 additional deaths.  None were in South Central Illinois.

The Marion County Health Department reports of the ten new cases, nine were community spread and one is believed tied to a household or close contact.  One of the cases involved a student not in school during their infectious period.  None were long-term care residents.

There are currently 51 active cases, including eight who are in the hospital.   An additional three recovered during the past two days bringing the total recovered to 4,034.

The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting four new cases and 49 current active cases.  The Fayette County Health Department is reporting one new case on Friday.

The seven-day state positivity rate remains at 2.5-percent.   Marion County’s positivity rate is at one-percent.

There were 102,670 doses of vaccine administered on Thursday.  The total number of vaccines administered has now topped 2.5-million.    There have now been 6,189 vaccine doses administered in Marion County.  1,785 are fully vaccinated or 4.74-percent of the population.
