Centralia and Salem Relay for Life merges back into one event

By News Mar 1, 2021 | 1:40 PM

The Centralia and Salem Relay for Life events will be merged back together for a single event this year.   Both events had to be canceled last year due to COVID-19 and the American Cancer Society has had to make some difficult decisions on how to move forward with this year’s event.

As a result of the cost-cutting, the combined event has been scheduled for Saturday, June 12th.    Centralia and Salem committee members are meeting to finalize where this year’s event will be located and how it can be done in a safe way.

The combined committees hope everyone will help make the event a huge comeback.  They note Relay for Life has always been about patients and families affected by cancer.  Money raised helps with advocacy, research, 24/7 support for cancer patients, and access to lifesaving screenings and so much more.    The events are made up of survivors, caregivers, volunteers and participants who believe in a cure someday.

The Relay for Life team uses a slogan to help empower team members and others to never stop fighting, ‘We can’t accept not trying!!!  We do!!! and we always will!!!
