2021 03/05 – Jan “Z-Man” Zedalis

Jan “Z-Man” Zedalis, 65, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly at 6:23 pm March 1, 2021 at his home. Z-Man enjoyed spending time with his friends at Pros Sports Bar. He loved sports, especially Illini Basketball. He enjoyed playing golf and used to play baseball for Rend Lake College where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame. More than anything Z-Man had a huge heart and loved spending time with his family and friends.

A Graveside Service will be held Friday, March 5, 2021 at 1:30 pm at Opdyke I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Opdyke, Illinois with Reverend Stacy Tate officiating. Interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages everyone to do a kind act, in loving memory of Jan “Z-Man” Zedalis. Please remember to observe social distancing at this time. Jan is survived by his daughter, Lauren Gerdes and husband, Alec of Washington, Illinois; granddaughter, Tate Gerdes, whom he loved dearly; anticipated new granddaughter, Campbell Gerdes; sister, Rynda Mason and husband, Robert of Opdyke; and several nieces and nephews.

He was born April 10, 1955 in Mount Vernon to the late Martin “Jeep” and Bernice (Garrison) Zedalis. In addition to his parents, Jan was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Zedalis and former wife, Lisa Earls.
