2021 03/05 – Marlaina Maria “Marty” Rose

Marlaina Maria “Marty” Rose, age 70, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 6:01 P.M. on Monday, March 1, 2021, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia, Illinois. Marty believed in God and Jesus as her Savior. She read daily out of her three Bibles. She enjoyed watching her soap operas and the Home Shopping Network. Marty was an awesome poet and wrote acrostic poetry all the time. She also liked to make her Biker Greeting Cards to send out to her family and friends. Marty cherished the time she spent with her children and grandchildren, who she had an open-door policy with, as they were welcomed in her home at any time. She would always have bags of candy for her grandchildren at Christmas time. She loved her life-long companion cat, Mariah, and after her furry friend’s passing, she loved her latest edition to the family, Boomerang.

Marty was a homemaker and housewife. She was a telemarketer at Superior Windows in Centralia, Illinois, for five years. She lived in Centralia, Illinois, for twenty-one years and formerly lived in Central City, Illinois and Mount Vernon, Illinois.

As per Ms. Marlaina Maria “Marty” Rose’s wishes and the wishes of her family, she will be cremated. There will be no public visitation nor services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ms. Rose’s family to assist with her funeral expenses and will be received at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home at 134 South Elm Street in Centralia, Illinois. Marty is survived by her loving sons, Rex F. Rose of Centralia, Illinois and John William Rose of Odin, Illinois; sixteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three sisters, Barbara Senko of New Jersey, Louise Kotalik of Shorewood, Illinois and Jackie Crouse and husband Jim of Centralia, Illinois; six nephews and five nieces.

She was born on August 15, 1950, in West Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of William Arthur and Helen Louise (Hankey) Mezo. She married Rex Fredrick Rose, Sr., in 1969 in West Chicago, Illinois, and they later divorced. Marty was preceded in death by her parents, William Arthur Mezo and Helen Louise Mezo; son, Christopher Nicholas Rose; sisters, Linda Jean Wilson and Carol Wanke, and her furry friend and companion, Mariah.
