The Salem Wildcats fell at Wesclin last night 51-45 in a tight ballgame throughout. Salem had tied the game at 38 all after 3 quarters, but free throws were the name of the game in the final quarter. The Cats finished the frame just 1-of-6 while Wesclin hit 8-of-12 in the final 8 minutes. Caden Bee scored 10 of his game-high 18 in the 2nd quarter, Haddon Lybarger fouled out with 12. Grant Fridley led Wesclin with 15 and Carson Wessell finished with 12. Salem is 3-6 overall and 3-4 in the Cahokia with a trip to Okawville upcoming on Thursday. Salem also dropped the JV game 50-46 as Caleb Anthony finished with 19 and Brendan Phillips added 18.
South Central improved to 7-3 overall and 3-3 in National Trail play with their 55-34 win over St Elmo/Brownstown. Keenin Willshire had a game high 21 and Collin Miller added 13. Ethan Watwood finished with 9. SC also won the fresh/soph game 39-37 and the JV 68-60.
Odin improved to 6-2 overall with their 52-44 win over Woodlawn in overtime. The Eagles used a 12-4 run in the extra time to pull out the win. They will head to Grayville on Friday.
