Five Brothers Cafe damaged in late Sunday night fire

A fire gutted a back room of the Five Brothers Cafe at 2053 West Main late Sunday night after the restaurant had closed for the evening.

Salem Fire Protection District officials say the fire was discovered by a Salem Policeman on patrol who saw smoke coming from the building.

The fire gutted the room used for storage and that housed the electrical panels. The fire did not burn through the roof. There was moderate smoke damage throughout the restaurant. The cause of the fire has not been determined.

Odin Firemen provided automatic mutual aid.

The fire call came in at 11:47 Sunday night. Firemen were on the scene for about an hour and a half.

Five Brothers is closed for cleanup and an inspection by the Marion County Health Department before reopening.
