Beckemeyer man killed in head-on crash on northside of Carlyle

State Police say a 29-year-old Beckemeyer man was killed in a head-on crash Wednesday night on new US 50 west of Illinois Route 127 on the north side of Carlyle.

The victim is identified as Aaron Wilcox.  He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Preliminary investigative details indicate Wilcox was traveling westbound in a pickup truck when it crossed over into the eastbound lane and struck the front of an SUV driven by 34-year-old Shana Knight of Carmi.

Knight was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A passenger in Wilcox’s pickup, 21-year-old Ozzy Youngbouer of Albers, was transported from the scene by Arch helicopter to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The crash occurred at 9:57 Wednesday night.  U.S. 50 was closed to traffic for crash investigation until 1:06 Thursday morning when all lanes were reopened.
