2021 04/15 – Violet “Vi” O. (Queen) Pasley

Violet “Vi” O. (Queen) Pasley, 91, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 4:40 pm April 3, 2021 at Clay County Hospital in Flora, Illinois. Mrs. Pasley was a member of Central Christian Church, enjoyed flowers and gardening, and loved her family dearly.

A Visitation will be held Thursday, April 15, 2021 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Masonic-Odd Fellow Cemetery in Benton, Illinois. A Graveside Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Mr. Randy Sells officiating. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made in Violet’s honor to the charity of the donors choice. Vi is survived by her sister, Carol Varney of Wayne, West Virginia and several nieces and nephews.

She was born August 26, 1929 in Wayne, West Virginia to the late Doliver and Cuba (Tomblin) Queen. Vi married Melvin Viernum on July 26, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois. They were blessed with nearly forty-nine years of marriage before he preceded her in death on March 29, 1995. Vi later married Clifford W. Pasley on August 1, 1996 in Lost River, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on August 6, 1997. In addition to her parents and husbands, Vi was preceded in death by her siblings, Orie Boyd, Mae Chaffin, Dennis Queen, Philip Queen, Albert Queen; sister-in-law, Phyllis Queen, Joanne Queen; and brothers-in-law, Zollie Varney, Perry Boyd; brother-in-law and very close friend, John Ponsetti.
