2021 04/15 – Robert E. “Bobby” Pate

Robert E. “Bobby” Pate, age 64, of Centralia, passed away Monday, April 12, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Bobby was a member of the Church of God in Centralia. Bobby enjoyed fishing, singing Karaoke, and camping. His family meant the world to him and he cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be missed by his four-legged companion Molly.

A private family service for Robert “Bobby” Pate will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. A visitation will be held Friday, April 16, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. Anyone who attends the visitation at the funeral home will be required to wear a mask and social distance. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Pate Family. He married Linda Hollingsead on February 15, 1975 in Centralia and she survives him in Centralia. In addition to his wife Linda of 46 years, Bobby is survived by his father and mother: William M. Pate and Nora B. Pate; one daughter: Melissa Johnson and husband Charlie of St. Robert, MO; two grandchildren: Dylan Winegarner and wife Kelsey of Fort Campbell, KY, and Brett Winegarner of Centralia; four great grandchildren: Gentry Winegarner, Kynlynn Winegarner, Carter Winegarner, and Rylan Winegarner; one sister: Linda Schuette and husband Mike of Maryville, IL; three brothers: William “Billy” Pate Jr. and wife Tami of Carlyle, IL, Steven Pate and wife Marlena of Beckemeyer, IL, and John Pate and wife Paula of Beckemeyer, IL; three brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws: Shirley Weaver and husband Jeffrey of Sandoval, IL, Steven Hollingsead of Salem, Diana Kay Lugari and husband Ron of Decatur and Carl Purcell of Salem; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Bobby was born September 18, 1956 in New Harmony, IN, the son of William M. Pate and Nora B. (Manhart) Pate. Bobby was preceded in death by his grandparents: Edward L. Pate and Mary Ola Pate, and Bert Manhart and Sylvia Manhart; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Charles Hollingsead and Grace Hollingsead; sister-in-law: Geraldine Purcell and brother-in-law: Wendell Hollingsead.
