2021 04/19 – “Genie” Meadows Cole

“Genie” Meadows Cole, 64, of Salem, Illinois passed away April 14, 2021, at her home. She was a food service provider for BCMW Project Bread Meal in Salem, She loved to attend the Indiana Covered Bridge Festival.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 19th at the Sutherland – Rankin Funeral Home in Salem, officiated by Sid Davis. Burial will follow at the Peaceful Valley Cemetery, Odin. Visiting hours will be from 11:00 am until the service hour. It is important that you wear masks, and respect social distancing as suggested by the CDC and State of Illinois Phase 4 Revitalization guidelines, allowing 50 guests at one time inside the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Donor’s choice and will be accepted by the Sutherland – Rankin Funeral Home, 310 N. Broadway, P..O. Survivors include her daughter Janie King and husband Ron of Carbon, IN, and Heather Bean and husband Luther of Bonnie, IL. Also Theresa Mudrich of Rochelle, GA, and Carrie Lull and husband Jon of Cordele, GA, along with grandchildren Laci and Daci Pigg, Searra (Levi Winkler) Pigg, Logan Bean, Cole Bean, Jonathan Higgins, Madison Lull, and Tim Lull. Her brothers Dino Meadows and Billy (Helen) Meadows and sisters Aletta (Clyde) Mericle, Pat (Ron) Arnold all of Salem, IL, and Jessie Sikes and Eldora Davis. She will be deeply missed by her nieces and faithful caregivers, Melissa Gordon and Pam Vaughn, along with dear friend Bill Ayers of Salem, IL, and former husband Ed Rozich of Carbon, IN.

Born November 21, 1956, in Salem, she was the daughter of William and Fae (Miller) Meadows. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters Alice (Ivan) Lawson and Loretta (Morris) Smith, Jimmy Dean Wilson, and Janie Meadows.
