A 60-year-old Booneville, Mississippi man has been returned to the Marion County Jail on an outstanding warrant charging child abduction of a family member.

Dennis Pannell is being held in lieu of a $20,000 bond.

Centralia Police say Pannell is accused of taking his daughter from the child’s home in Centralia to Mississippi.   He did not have custody and  had no established paternity

The child’s abduction was reported in January with the mother believing Pannell had taken the child.

With the assistance of police in Mississippi, the child was located and returned to the mother about a week ago.

Once the Marion County State’s Attorney office had issued the warrant, the U.S. Marshal’s service was able to arrest Pannell in Mississippi.  The Marion County Sheriff’s Department then went to Mississippi to pick him up.

Pannell is also being held on an outstanding failure to appear in court warrant in a DUI case, with bond set at an additional $5,000.

Pannell made his first appearance in court on Wednesday.   He is due back in court on April 27th for a first appearance with counsel.
