State Health Department reports COVID-related death in Clay County; only one new case in Marion County

The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting a COVID-19 related death in Clay County. The fatality was a male in his 90s. It was one of 40 deaths being reported around the state on Thursday. There were also 3,581 new cases statewide.

In Marion County, just one new case is being reported. It was not a student or long term care resident and is believed to be from community spread.

There are now 11 active cases in the county, including three who are hospitalized and one who is on a ventilator.

The Clinton County Health Department is reporting two new cases with 15 currently on home isolation.

Jefferson County Health Department is reporting one new case on Thursday. Nine are on isolation.

The preliminary seven-day positivity rate remains at 4.2-percent.

Another 129,755 doses of vaccine were administered in Illinois on Wednesday, with more than 7.6-million total vaccines now administered.
