The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting the death of a female in her 90s in Marion County from COVID-19 related causes. The death is the 117th reported in Marion County since the pandemic began. It is among 23 deaths being reported statewide on Saturday. There was one death reported in Alexander County in deep southern Illinois. Most of the other deaths are in the Chicago area.
The state is reporting an additional 3,194 confirmed or probable cases of COVID-19 on Saturday. The statewide positivity rate has dropped a tenth of a percent to 4.1-percent.
Another 160,014 doses of vaccine were administered in Illinois on Thursday, bringing the total to more than 7.9-million.
