The Salem Fire Protection District was called out Thursday afternoon to a report of a brush and trash fire.
While the fire was close to the Mike Cannon home at 1908 County Farm Road, it was never threatened before firemen put out the fire that covered an area of about 100 by 100 feet.
The fire apparently spread from a burn barrel.
Firemen were on the scene for about 20 minutes.
